FAQs
Ask Us Anything
Do I need a referral?
Some insurance companies require you to get a referral to see a dietitian. Some do not. If you are a Jackson Care Connect or AllCare Health member, a referral is NOT required but is still preferred.
For other insurances, a referral is required.
If you are self-pay and not using insurance you do not need a referral.
Even if a referral is not required, doctor notes, labs, and other information is always helpful for a full nutrition assessment. Your provider can fax these to us at 541-972-8826, or you can bring copies or pull up your MyChart results during our appointment.
Insurance typically covers the costs of visits in full. Most, but not all, clients have no out-of-pocket costs.
My insurance isn't accepted. CAn I still see you?
Yes, we can still see you as a self-pay patient. A credit card will be required to book an appointment, and payment will be due at the time of service. Please see self-pay rates for fee amounts.
A “superbill” will be provided upon request for you to submit to your insurance. Some insurances will reimburse all or part of the fee. We would be considered an out-of-network provider by your insurance.
Please consider calling your insurance and asking them these questions to get the most out of your benefits.

What is HAES?
HAES stands for Health At Every Size. As a non-diet, weight-inclusive dietitian, I recognize that bodies come in all sizes and shapes. This would be the case even if we all ate and moved the same!
I help clients develop habits that support their health, along with developing body positive patterns to support healthy eating and activity for life.
To learn more about HAES, check out the HAES principles here.
What about GLP-1's?
Does embracing HAES principles mean that it’s never appropriate to use a GLP-1? Of course not! I support many clients using GLP-1’s. GLP-1’s are a great tool for many people for many reasons.
When on a GLP-1, we work on managing side effects, guarding against metabolism adaptation, nourishing your body well, tapering and maintenance.
Will insurance cover nutrigenomics testing?
Nutrigenomics testing is not covered by insurance. The cost is $650 and includes the test (a simple cheek swab), a 60 minute follow-up appointment to discuss results and dietary recommendations, and a printed booklet of your results. Your DNA does not change, so these results are great to keep for future referral to.
